This facepalms in fury like when you realize you left the oven on and now your house smells like smoke. It's the mix of 'I can't believe this happened' and 'why did I let it get this bad?' The guy's just about to throw his hands up, but he's still got one hand on his face. You'd use it when you're mad, annoyed, and a little bit of both at the same time.
